The Phantom Blog

So I suppose you all have been wondering where my urge to blog has been for the past week or so. It has been, along with my appetite for human sacrifice, on the backburner for a while now.

My life has been good, though largely devoid of sleep. recently, Panera Bread thought that it would be in the best interest of all of its employees to ban the playing of any and all CDs in the back of the store. Now, you have to realize, that in a restaurant, the employee’s experience consists largely of serving demanding customers all day long, and so to gain a brief moment of respite, the employee might consider going into the back and listening to music, if only for a bit. But, some selfish dipstick of an employee decided that he was offended by music his coworkers were playing, and decided that he’d better complain about it. When his complaints went unheard, he got pissed off and now has openend up a lawsuit against Panera over the offensive music he was FORCED to listen to against his will. So, in accordance with the company Harassment policy, now all employees are going to be fricking upset and enraged, instead of just one. From a corporate standpoint, it makes sense “we don’t want to be sued, it is bad to be sued by people” makes sense. But “we don’t want to offend anyone in the slightest manner for even the most trivial reason because we’re afraid that that person will get hopping mad and wish that are heads were blasted off with a DD4 Destove but not before we were tortured with hot needles in the kneecaps for 72 hours straight without sleep and forced to enhale garbage fumes every time we nodded off”. THAT, my friends, makes no sense at all. I don’t think we ought to walk around this earth looking to piss people off but at the same time I don’t think we ought to tiptoe through life worrying constantly about infringing on somebody else’s sensibilities becuase they might get offended. People need to be offended or they will never grow, they will cease to care about anything and perhaps even forget their manners themselves if they are never once offended. Offend people to open their hearts, that’s what I say.

There are few things more despicable than a person who sells out their freedom so that somebody else may enjoy peace of mind. Comfort is a luxury, not a right, and you consequently have no right to be comfortable whatsoever. A culture of self-satisfaction that blames its troubles on a God it doesn’t seriously believe in because of the actions of men and their destructive tendencies not only deserves to be supplanted but inevitably will be supplanted by somebody else.

So I was glad that it was sunny yesterday… I hope that trend continues in the coming months. 🙂
