So I decided to start randomly clicking on random blogs that exist on blogspot and read them so I can peer into the secret published lives of other turds around the planet Earth. And I found this. Be forewarned, it contains a lot of swearing, but when I found it I couldn’t help but chuckle… it is humorous.

I also found this blog: Illusions, it’s by a girl and it’s fairly cool, if you read it.

I envy the author of this blog, because he has seen A Mighty Wind already and he takes reasonably decent photographs.

Holy Crap. An 8-year-old has a blog.

Well, the skippy news is that I succeeded in renewing my laptop until frickin’ August 29th!

Yeehoo, now I have it alllll summer long!

I have been sitting up here in the Union for about an hour now, maybe. Finally I am finding some free time to update my illustrious blog.

Well… to sum up my weekend, it was really good, and I worked until I felt like passing out and pasing away. From Thursday until Sunday I was as busy as a Paçksi baker during Lent in Poland. I worked all morning Thursday and then found out that I didn’t have class, but still I managed to use up my day really fast. Friday was pretty brutal and I worked all morning and had class all afternoon and then I tried to watch From Dusk Till Dawn only to find out that Quentin Tarantino is a perv in it and there is nudity aplenty… so I fell asleep when the Vampires attacked. Then I visited Heidi for a few minutes… actually she was just starting watching Girl, Interrupted and I found myself completely sucked into the movie… so I watched it all and then I was about to pass out and I went home to bed. At 6 am my dad woke me up because my manager was frantically trying to get as many people as possible to come in early because somebody else was a no show. So I went in to work 2 hours early and stayed until about 12:30, when I was mercifully relieved by Tyler Cheadle. Then I was in Justin’s play, I had a blast and got really hungry and felt tired but it was great fun. Then I got a half-hour nap and some food at my home and returned to close at Panera from 6-10:15.

When you opened the door

did your breath catch?

The object on the floor

your broken latch.

Someone has broken into your life

and left it all a mess

Everywhere the pieces lie

shards of evidence

Who did this deed

and more important, why?

Did you do this God?

Did you really have to pry?

Everything that seemed in place

has all been upset

You go about trying to make sense

and remember where things went

but returning to the older state

doesn’t solve the case

it only reestablishes order to

the plateau of your face

Everywhere, the pieces lie

shards that incriminate

veiled lies left there by

someone, not the savior

The Devil he is cunning sure

but does he really pounce so fast?

You see the evidence on the floor

is pushing you to violence

Would God stir up this reckless hate

this twisted plotting for revenge

this mangled game of hide and seek

of psychological attack?

No, surely this is the work of an enemy

and one who wants you mad

But he cannot count on you to fall

When you are in God’s hands

So when the knock comes at the door

open it with haste

for be it Jesus let him in

be it Satan, know this

you cannot stand against his will

it is folly to believe

but Jesus knows the bitter pill

and swallowed it for you

You shall face the evil more than you can ever cope

But God is always on your side and you must never lose hope

“Whenever you find a man who says he doesn’t believe in a real Right and Wrong, you will find the same man going back on this a moment later.”

Wow, I had a long long long day today, working hard at Panera from about an hour after I awoke until about 9:30pm. Then I got the fellas together and we watched Spirited Away at my house. It was a night to remember… if only I could remember it. I was so toked up on reefer, crystal and truck driver that I could hardly see the Dingaling paraphenalia on the wall of the smack-joint-house I was quelling up in. Krasnoyarsk is for losers, Ulaanbator is where the flippingest gardenhoses are. Man, am I the sassiest frood in the galaxy, or what? Anyways the movie was excellent and just blew me away again but I think it was a trifle underwhelming for Jeremy. Oh, and word out to Mike E., sorry I didn’t call you up for this one man, I totally wasn’t thinking when we set it up on a whim. ‘K, I have to get up for overheads tomorrow morning and plus it’s gonna be Easter and there’s family and eggs and Jesus, so, g’night my bally flippin’ wankah wallopahs!

Well it’s been a freaking long time since I updated (4 days), well OK I suppose that isn’t THAT long of a time to be silent and… silent.

Anyway, I just got to go see Anger Management on Saturday night with Mike and Jared. It was good. Not bad, not super great, but it was funny and had some really good moments and didn’t have a stupid story- wait, it didn’t really have much of a story but it had great characters and that’s what matters. IS that what matters, Joel? Is it really? How carefully have you examined your own soul before you begin to review a movie so casually? Joel, I think your life needs to be set in order before you can take on the mantle of movie reviewer/recommender/watcher/talker-abouter/anypersonrelatedtofilmeveninanobscureway.

Alright! Characters don’t really count as much as directing, which doesn’t count as much as good sound, which doesn’t count as much as good cinematography, which doesn’t count as much as having a good story.

Newsflash! Joel is here and he is typing. End Newsflash!

i get to learn how to bake lots of new breads tonight at the EVIL EMPIRE (panera bread). I, for one, enjoy having the security of my job, knowing that others will pay for mine with their own jobs, then their own sanity, followed by their own life!

Ok, enough morbid fascination, what I’m really trying to say is- HOLY CRAP! What’s that green thing squirming over your left shoulder?! My bad, it’s just a worm.

‘k I’m going to post another depressing message on my adventure blog now.

Ahhh.

Now I can finally update my blog and tell you all who haven’t gleaned everything already from Larson or Justin or Mike.

I had the immense privilege of seeing The Notwist at The Magic Stick in Detroit, MI last night. They were amazing and so much more. I rank it as the most satisfying concert that I have ever been to. They played everything I would have hoped and they were so tight as a band, even when they made mistakes nobody would have noticed because they were just too darn good. They all used some crazy equipment and displayed a concentrated knowledge of how these things worked. I was preparing for it, but when it came I was just amazed by the lead singer’s voice, it is a really good voice. The Notwist possess perhaps the most distinctive sound I’ve heard in a long time, maybe since SDRE. They are equal parts rock, metal and electronic. They really enjoy rocking out and also really enjoy doing different things with their instruments to create good sounding discord and amazing drum sfx.

Here was the order of songs at the concert, and my impressions of each:

One With The Freaks – Yes! Definitely one of the best songs to open with, and ten times as satisfying live as on the CD when the guitar starts jamming!

Pick Up The Phone – Definitely a solid song… came out flawlessly in performance. Just seeing the drummer go at it and hearing all of those cool sounds come from the speakers was awesome.

Neon Golden – This was a good segue into more electronic stuff. It was much better in concer than on the CD, I kind of got tired of it on CD, but they freshened it up for this performance.

No Encores – Ahhhh, one of my all time faves from the Shrink LP. Every bit as awesome in concert and ever so much more satisfying.

This Room – They returned to the newest album with this one, which is one of Mike E.’s favorites.

(a song I don’t know) – All I know is that they took a cool melody and took it into outerspace by building up in intensity more and more and more and yes MORE.

Trashing Days – A good quieter song, at least when compared to the previous one.

(another song I don’t know) – didn’t pick up a whole lot from these songs, but by now I didn’t care, it’s all amazing and really good, I just want to own all of the CDs now.

(another song I don’t know) – Still amazing, oh yeah.

Pilot – This song was fantastic, they went into this long electronic interlude of stuff, and then, don’t ask me how the drummer kept time so well, they all came back together all at once in perfect unison and did the chorus again… it was fabulous.

At this point, they told us that this was the end, “good bye!”

Then we cheered and they came back and did these THREE more songs:

Chemicals – Yes, the definite first hook from Shrink, also amazing in concert… oh yeah.

Solitaire – one of my faves from Neon Golden, I really digged this one live.

Consequence – the mother of all concert ending songs… made me want to close my eyes and worship God… it’s a song for cripes sake Joel, get a hold of yourself, but- oh, so good.

That’s about it, my honies!

Oh yeah, our muffler fell off on the way back, heh, it sucked ‘cuz it was below twenty. The good news was that a hot female cop came over to check us out- er, I mean help us out.

Byebye for now.

Well I know that I ramble incessantly on about movies all of the time in real life, so I might as well do it in my blog. Wait, I’ve been ranting about movies in here for months now, doh.

Well, the latest amazing film I’ve seen was released 5 years ago. I still remember when it came out, because it caused such a stir. It was up for a number of Academy Awards, but I don’t remember if it won any of them. All I remember is that it looked like an edgy movie. Edgy is hardly the word for it, my friends. This film was equal parts stunning cinematography, amazing filming technique, engaging and controversial storyline, and incredible character performances. This film is American History X.

I’ve been told that Edward Norton gives his very best performance in this film, and I’ll be darned if I’ve seen him better in any other film. Fight Club was sweet, yes, but that film has nothing on the intensity of his performance in this film. This film was scary, twisted, and brought race issues to the foreground with searing brightness and clarity. I’m sorry, I sound like a tripped out film reviewer, but seriously, I can’t get this movie out of my head. It was amazing. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m not reccomending this film to any schmuck who enjoys good movies. This movie might make you crap your pants in some parts. It is that vile and that stark. Anyway, you may also want to know that Avery Brooks (Captain Sisko, of Deep Space Nine fame) is in it and does a very good job. Also, good ‘ol Edward Furlong of Terminator 2 fame is also in it. Also, a whole slew of recognizable and quality characters roam about the torn neighborhoods of this SoCal satellite to L.A.

Anyway, enough ranting. Time to sleep.
